Hi there. Welcome. Let’s talk about me.
My name is Flore. I’m a 26-year-old girl. Or woman. I still can’t figure out when I became or will become a woman instead of a girl. But for now, I like to think of myself as a girl. It gives me the opportunity to be young at heart and an excuse when I don’t act like an adult.

I live in a house near Bruges, Belgium with my wonderful boyfriend and my lovely dog.
In that house, one can find love, laughter and happiness. And shoes. A lot of shoes. That too.
My boyfriend and I like talking about life, about our dreams. Most of these dreams involve travelling and exploring the world. Our biggest dream is to move out of Belgium to a warmer place. Well, basically anywhere where the weather is better than here. For the non-Belgian readers amongst us: In Belgium we get rain. We get cold. We get dark, foggy days. With 2 months (July and August) of somehow decent weather.
Does that mean my boyfriend and I don’t like our lives here? No! We love our lives here, we have our family and our friends, our sweet dog, … But it can never hurt to have a dream in life.

Unfortunately I also have to work. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job. But there’s still so much I want to do in life. Work sometimes seems to take up all of my time.
Since I have to work anyway, I chose to be a teacher. I have a class of fifteen 8-year-olds. Some of my posts, my waves, will involve stories about these kids. Obviously.
I think it’s great to have the opportunity to teach these kids not only about maths or reading or whatever, but also about life. They know I’m strict, but I also like to have a laugh with them. Nothing feels better than the sound of fifteen kids laughing sincerely about the most stupid things. These little innocent ones can find happiness in such small things.

In my spare time, I like to do a lot of things. I used to be a dancer, but after +/- 18 years of dancing I decided to stop and start something new. Karate. I have a blue belt at the moment and it gives me a chance to get rid of my frustrations.
I also like to play the ukulele and sing. As a teacher, a ukulele is a very usefull instrument. The kids love it and it makes them feel happy, each time they see me reach out for it.
So there’s sports, there’s music, and besides these, there’s also being creative. At the moment I’m trying hand lettering. It’s a good way of blocking out my thoughts and just trying to create something nice.
Reading is also something I like, but should do more often. Once I start reading, I can’t stop, so since I also like sleeping at night, I don’t read that many books anymore.

So, those are the pieces of my puzzle. My puzzle is far from complete. There are still many things I want to try or do, but I have to choose, so one thing at a time.
If you would like to know why I started this blog, read it here.
