Yesterday holidays started. Needless to say I was pretty happy. It’s a lovely thing to be a teacher, as I have told before. But it does get very exhausting sometimes. The kids need you to give them all of your energy and that always gets to me. In the days before school ends, I start feeling kind of sick. And on my first day off, I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck.
Today is my first day off and as I predicted, I didn’t feel very well when I woke up. It got better during the day and I took a nap, but I feel like I could still sleep for another 20 hours. Kids are awesome, but man, they suck the energy out of you.

But like always, I try to give a happy twist to every day. As I told you, we went grocery shopping this week, so I’ve decided to try something new today. Last summer, I went to Bali and of course I had some delicious Nasi Goreng. I really liked it, but I didn’t seem to find any place near our house that serves their Nasi Goreng the way they do in Bali. So I searched for a recipe myself and I tried it out today.

Cooking makes me happy, because it’s so relaxing. Today was even more special. While I was baking and stirring, the smell of my dish brought me back to Bali. The weather, the people, surfing, everything in Bali was so awesome. Even the fact that there were palm trees on the side of the street made me happy. Belgium is too cold for palm trees, so they give me the feeling of being on a tropical, paradise island. I really hope to go back one day.

But for now, I had to settle with the smell of Nasi Goreng. I was so happy when it tasted exactly as I wanted. Another accomplishment in the kitchen! Hooray for me! Now excuse me while I go on dreaming about Bali.
